How Artist PROP4G4ND4 Crafted The Block Brand

It’s not often we find ourselves transfixed by a club flyer. We get it. Club flyers are still regarded as disposable art, created and distributed with a kind of disregard. For every thoughtfully designed club flyer, there’s another dozen sad attempts at a collage of images and typography that draw more ire than notice. Almost as if you know the party’s happening because the flyer was so undeniably garish you had to look twice. You feel it too, right?

So imagine our thrill when we discovered that rare creative symbiosis between a club and a designer. Where the flyer art enhances a club’s image and branding, exemplifying a commitment to art and creativity.

Greek graphic designer Prop4g4nd4 has been creating club flyers for The Block in Tel Aviv since 2009. In his signature low-poly portrait style, the flyers draw focus to the performer, a portrait of an artist. Repeated geometric line work and abstract shapes set against a muted colour palette create a Brutalist aesthetic with it’s industrial, urban vibe.

The effect is stark, architectural and heavy. And the reference is fitting. Brutalism in the 1950s was a conscious departure from the dissatisfying forms of Modernism. To the same effect, Prop4g4nd4‘s flyer art is a calculated shift away from existing, typical club art. His recognizable style solidifies The Block’s brand, representing a seething subculture rising in the thick of Tel Aviv’s African Quarter.

Club flyers can be so much more than careless references to an event in passing. All you need is vision, a talented graphic designer and the desire to inspire. Ready to start your revolution? Get your flyer designed right here.
