Minimalist Rapper Illustrations

Inspiration Design

UK illustrator Dale Edwin Murray has a signature minimalist style that is anything but simple. Angular shapes and high contrast colour blocking create dimension and texture, lending an otherwise two dimensional work a sense of depth and intensity. Murray  caught our eye when he immortalized some of our favourite rappers in his series “Best rapper alive, every year since 1979” for Complex. Having drawn over 30 rappers per year and counting since 1979, Murray’s fantastic Hip Hop Heads portfolio started as a personal project to practice his caricature skills, and since grown to a brand of its own with an online store of collectible prints and keepsakes. Take a look at some of our favourites here.
